Meet the Director

Chloe Atkinson (MA., MSc., PGDE.)

I have been tutoring GCSE, A-Level, and SQA examinations for 5 years now. Over this time, 100% of my pupils have achieved their desired grade… or higher.

I graduated from the University of Edinburgh in 2021 with a masters in English Literature and History and then again in 2022 with a masters in History. Last year, I graduated from Moray House (University of Edinburgh) with a PGDE (Secondary English) and I am already dreaming about a PhD in Literature and History!

My teaching and tutoring philosophy are the same: the pupil is the focus. This might be working together to build confidence, working on specific questions in the paper (pesky RUAE!) or helping with structuring an essay; I ensure that your child’s learning is the priority.

I am originally from Lincoln, England and if I am tutoring from my parent’s house you may see my dog, George, pop on the call for a quick hello! I moved up to Edinburgh for University in 2017 and Scotland has been my home ever since.

I have an abundance of experience tutoring and find that 1-2-1 tuition is often the secret ingredient to a learner’s needs. I also have experience working dyslexic, ADHD and ASD pupils to better support their studies.

    Biology, Human Biology and PE

    I currently live in Edinburgh but I am originally from Shetland.

  • Caroline Crawley Hubbard

    Languages (French and Spanish)

    Hi there! I'm Caroline. In July 2023, I graduated from the University of Edinburgh with First Class Honours and Distinctions in spoken French as part of my MA French and Spanish degree.

    Since my graduation, life has taken me to the sunny south of France, where I've taken on the role of a "lectrice d'anglais", serving as a university English tutor. My current role involves nurturing both spoken and written English skills in university students that study English either alongside another language or a humanities subject.

    I have an extensive background in tutoring and have been doing so since 2021. Beyond my formal role at the university, I continue to offer additional classes to both students and citizens looking to better their English.

    Given my location, I would only be able to offer CA tuition clients online classes and I offer my services to all students up to Higher level.

    Since starting my current role, I have found a real passion for teaching. I find great joy in being part of my student's academic journeys and helping them achieve their language goals. Whether that involves refining your written grammar or boosting your confidence in speaking French or Spanish, you can count on me to be your dedicated guide and support system along the way!

  • Isla Nicoll

    History and Literacy

    I have over 6 years experience as a History teacher at an Angus school. I love my job and am passionate about my subject and helping learners achieve their absolute best.

    I graduated from the University of Aberdeen in 2014 with a first-class honours degree in History and completed my PGDE in Secondary Education in 2017. Since then I have taught History from S1 to Advanced Higher, and have recently had experience teaching National 5 Modern Studies. I have been an SQA National 5 History marker for the last 3 years, which has given me an excellent insight into the skills required for the final exam.

    I have 2 years of tutoring experience and have helped a number of learners achieve their desired results. I use a variety of teaching techniques and activities to suit each learner, and have had very positive feedback from both students and parents alike.

    I live in coastal Angus with my toy poodle Lincoln, who loves saying hello on calls. I offer online sessions, or in-person in the Angus area.

    I have a First Class Honours Degree in English and Film from Edinburgh Napier University (2022) and a PGDE in Secondary English from Edinburgh University (2023).

    I am currently in my probation year as an English Teacher.

    Fun Fact: I used to run a book club in HMP Saughton.”

  • Sean Gilhooley

    My name is Sean, I am 25 years old, and I am from Edinburgh. I achieved my undergraduate degree in Geography, Society and Environment (Master of Arts – 2:1) from Heriot-Watt University. I then wanted to take my passion for Geography and share it with young people, so I decided to train to become a teacher of Geography. I have recently completed my PGDE Secondary Geography qualification from the University of Edinburgh. I start teaching my own classes from August onwards.

    I am based in the South of Edinburgh and I offer tuition up until Higher level Geography. I am looking forward to sharing my passion for Geography with the young people that I tutor.
